Digital Megohmmeter or Megger insulation tester has selectable test voltages of 500V, 1kV, 2.5kV and 5kV with the capabilities of testing insulation resistance up to 1000 MΩ, ideal for testing high voltage equipment such as transformers, genera-tors, high voltage motors, power capacitors, power cables, arresters and so on. The megger is an ideal tool for electric maintenance, testing and inspection.

Tips: What should you prepare before using an insulation resistance tester?
When Megger is working, it generates high voltage, and the measuring object is electrical equipment, so it must be used correctly, otherwise it will cause personal or equipment accidents. Before use, the following preparations should be made.
- Before the insulation resistance measurement, the power supply of the equipment under test must be cut off, and the equipment is discharged by short-circuiting to the ground. It is never allowed that the equipment to be charged is taken for measurement. Nevertheless, the safety is in the first place.
- For devices that may be induced by high voltage, the possibility must be eliminated before measurement can be made.
- The surface of the measured equipment should be clean to reduce the contact resistance and ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
- Before the insulation resistance test, check whether the Megohmmeter is in normal working state, that is, mainly checking its "0" and "infinity" points. That is, shake the handle to make the motor reach the rated speed, the meter should be in the "0" position in the short circuit, and in the "infinity" position in the open circuit.
- The insulation resistance tester should be placed in a stable, firm place, and away from the large external current conductor and external magnetic field.
After the above preparations are made, the resistance measurement can be carried out. During the testing, the correct wiring of the Megger insulation tester should be paid attention to, otherwise unnecessary errors or even errors will be caused.
