Existing reviews of 300 Watt Car Power Inverter, 12V DC to 220V AC
Due to the fuses in a car, the maximum amount of load for anything plugged into the inverter is 230W. Other articles I have seen say that the inverter to run from the cigarette lighter should be 400W or less. I 'm not sure what I might ultimately want to power (LED lights, laptop, etc.) What should I really get. I assume it makes sense to get a pure sine inverter rather than modified sine.

Yes, the fuse in the car is usually 10A-15A, it is better to use a pure sine inverter than a modified sine. If you want to power (LED lights, laptop, etc.), we recommend a 300W pure sine inverter. You can check first what is the rated capacity of your car cigarette lighter fuse (A)? We will then recommend a suitable inverter.
Works for intended purpose
The 300w inverter is of great value for the price and easy to use.

Best price on 300W power inverter
I live in a place that has frequent power outages, which would result in running the entire house at idle, minus the 3/4 hp well pump, power inverter running the grid heater and water heater for a few seconds. Even running my coffee maker with all the lights on in the house.

Excellent modified sine wave inverter
I purchased this inverter to test some lithium batteries. I needed an modified sine wave inverter that could put out its rated power for hours at a time and this one worked great.
