Tips: Star delta starter advantages and disadvantages

    Advantages

    • The starting current is small (the starting current is 1/3 of the direct starting), and the impact on the power grid is small.
    • The star-delta starter is simple in structure and cheap in price.
    • When the load is light, the motor can be run under the star connection, so as to realize the matching between the rated torque and the load, and improve the operation efficiency of the motor.
    • There is no need to purchase starting equipment, and it can be realized with control equipment such as starting switch or AC contactor.

    Disadvantages

    • Can only be used for delta-connected motors.
    • Only applicable to small asynchronous motors of 4~100kW.
    • When the stator winding is connected in star, the starting torque is reduced to 1/3 of the delta connection, so it cannot start under heavy load.

    Great value for money
For me, a non-professional electrician, its ease of installation is a blessing. Moreover, it is also excellent at starting the motor, allowing the equipment to run smoothly. It doesn't matter if it's 220V or 380V. The performance is incredible at this price range.
