Tips: Types of Shallow Well Pumps

    • Shallow well hand pump
Shallow well hand pumps do not need electricity to work. In the event of a power outage, users prefer to use hand pumps to supplement their water supply, as operating entirely on an electric pump could leave them without water in this situation. Thus, its mechanism uses the movement of the pump to create a suction to lift the water, which is very different from both jet and submersible pumps. Shallow well suction pumps pump water from your well to a pressure vessel. When pumping pressure, use a check valve or pressure gauge to know the full pressure chamber.
    • Electric shallow Jet well pump
The shallow-well jet pump is mounted on the surface and uses a special suction mechanism to do the job. These pumps run on electricity, so their centrifugal pumps, or impellers, are driven by electric motors to push water from the well into a narrow hole. As the water passes through this hole, it speeds up because the end of it contracts. Once the water leaves the hole, a vacuum is created. This vacuum sucks more water out of the well and pulls it up. Behind the narrow aperture is a venturi tube. As its diameter increases, water moves more slowly through it, which increases its pressure. At this point, the drive water is combined with the pump water and discharged from a high pressure faucet.
    • Shallow Submersible Pump
Shallow submersible pumps are used in shallow Wells. Submersible pumps are effective because they are placed in Wells rather than above ground. This means that the pump pushes the water up rather than pulling it up with the jet pump. The lower half of the submersible pump consists of a sealed pump motor connected to a power supply above the ground. This is usually a generator. The other half is a series of stacked impellers. Each is separated by a diffuser that moves water down the pipe into your piping system.
