From the appearance, the electric reciprocating saw mainly consists of two parts, one is the saw blade and the other is the fuselage. The inside and outside of the whole fuselage are respectively composed of a motor, a transmission machine, a casing, a knife lifting mechanism, a switch, etc., and all these parts together form a complete reciprocating saw.
Among these parts, the role of the saw blade is the most critical. The saw blade is located at the forefront of the fuselage. Once it starts working, the saw blade will be at the forefront. Therefore, the sharpness, wear resistance, and shape of the saw blade will directly affect the cutting effect of the object. Because of this, people pay great attention to the material of the saw blade.
Generally, high-speed tool steel or high-carbon steel is used to make the saw blade. Electric reciprocating saws are used for sawing metal pipes, plates, or cutting bevels on steel pipes, as well as cutting cables or other non-metallic materials. It is composed of a motor, reducer, cam mechanism, sliding rod, saw blade, power switch, and pipe wrench.

How does reciprocating saw work?
The reciprocating sawing motion of the saw blade is obtained by the motor driving the stub cam to rotate through the first-stage reduction gear, and the reciprocating motion of the sliding rod is formed under the action of the cam and the swing rod. In order to meet the sawing needs of non-metallic materials such as wood and plastic, the electric reciprocating saw is equipped with a knife lifting mechanism to increase the heat dissipation surface.
The knife lifting mechanism is composed of eccentric gear, a bearing, and movable sleeve rod, etc. When the eccentric gear rotates once, the saw blade swings once with the slide bar. The saw blade is made of high-quality high-speed tool steel. Saw blades with different pitches and angles should be used for cutting different metal materials or cables.
Realization of the reciprocating motion of the saw blade: the reciprocating motion of the saw blade is driven by the most common crank linkage mechanism. It converts the rotation of the crank into the reciprocating motion of the reciprocating rod in a straight line. The bearing and the large gear constitute a crank, one end of the connecting rod is connected with the reciprocating rod through a joint, and the other end of the connecting rod is connected with the crank.
The motor drives the large gear to rotate, and the 28mm reciprocating saw rod is driven to reciprocate back and forth through the connecting rod. For the purpose of balance, a balance weight is assembled, which allows the eccentric wheel to drive the reciprocating rod to reciprocate.
Realization of the saw blade swinging motion: the saw blade swinging motion is realized through a seesaw mechanism. Back-moving spring is housed on the knife-lifting support, and one end is connected movable block, and the reciprocating rod passes the movable block, and the other end is interlocked with the curved hook of the lifting knife.
During the reciprocating motion, the hook for lifting the knife is also moving back and forth simultaneously, and the bracket for lifting the knife is hooked by the hook to move together, thereby driving the movable block and the reciprocating rod to swing up and down. There are different end faces processed on the lifter shaft, and different swing ranges can be obtained by adjusting the end face of the lifter shaft.
Saw blade clamping mechanism: It clamps the saw blade through the pressure plate and the fixing screw, and fixes it on the head of the reciprocating rod. There is a positioning pin on the end face of the reciprocating rod to hook the saw blade to prevent the saw blade from coming out. There are two kinds of saw blade chuck devices: common type and fast type.
The impact of stroke length on machine cutting: stroke length refers to the maximum distance that the saw blade moves back and forth during the cutting process of the machine. The stroke length has a great influence on the cutting efficiency of the machine. If the same saw blade is used to cut material at the same number of reciprocations, different stroke lengths will have different cutting efficiencies.
The longer the reciprocating saw stroke length, the more teeth the saw blade will participate in cutting during each reciprocating cutting process, and the faster the cutting will be.
The shorter the stroke length, the fewer teeth are involved in the cut and the slower the cut.
