Tips: Ring load cell basics
A ring load cell senses the small deformations generated by a load through an internal strain gauge and converts them into an electrical signal. When measuring force, the ring design ensures that the force is evenly distributed across the surface of the transducer, thus increasing the accuracy of the measurement. This type of load cell is typically used to measure tensile force or pressure and is suitable for applications in compact spaces.
The ring load cell is widely used in industrial automation, robotics, machine building, aerospace, and other fields. Common uses include bolt preload measurement, tension monitoring, pressure testing, and structural load analysis. Their toroidal design makes them particularly suitable for installation in scenarios where shafts or cables need to be routed, such as the measurement of shaft forces in hydraulic cylinders.
Care should be taken when using load cells: firstly, ensure that the load cell's rated load range matches the actual application requirements to avoid overload damage. Second, install the force in the same direction as the sensor design to avoid tilting the load. Finally, calibrate the sensor periodically to ensure measurement accuracy. To extend the service life, avoid long-term exposure of the sensor to high temperature, high humidity or corrosive environment.
