How to Wire Single Phase Motor?
A single phase induction motor consists of a single phase winding on the stator and a cage winding on the rotor. When a single phase supply is connected to the stator winding, a pulsating magnetic field is produced. In the pulsating field, the rotor does not rotate due to inertia. The structure of the single phase induction motor determines that the reverse rotation is generally completed by hardware.
Today we will introduce the forward and reverse wiring of 5 hp single phase induction motor.
Internal wiring structure of single-phase induction motor
When the motor accelerates to a certain value, the centrifugal switch is disconnected, and themotor runs at the rated speed.
Reasons for adding capacitors to single-phase motor
- In the original structure, the main coil and the auxiliarycoil are powered at the same time, and the same electromagnetic force is generated to cancel each other, and the rotor cannot rotate.
- To make the magnetic field force rotate, it can be achievedby passing alternating currents of different phase sequencesin the main coil and the auxiliary coil.
The existence of the capacitor fulfills this function.

Other types of single-phase motor wiring
Normally, there will be forward and reverse wiring on the motor nameplate. Connect the cables according to the requirements.
