Dehumidifier vs Air Conditioner: Which One I Need?
People found that the air conditioner also has a little dehumidification function in the process of using the air conditioner. Nowadays, air-conditioning manufacturers have deliberately added a dehumidification mode based on the two modes of cooling and heating to increase the selling point of air-conditioning. However, consumers still have many doubts about whether to buy air conditioners or dehumidifiers. So which one is more cost-effective to buy a dehumidifier or an air conditioner with dehumidification?
As for the working principle of both the dehumidifier and air conditioner, it is not complex, and it is not difficult to understand. Although the principle of the dehumidifier is the same as that of the air conditioner, both use the refrigeration principle, so the air conditioner can also dehumidify, but there are still essential differences.
1. Dehumidification effects of these two equipment vary widely. Because the dehumidifier is an all-in-one machine, the two heat exchanges are completed indoors, so the indoor temperature will not decrease after using the dehumidifier. Since the second heat exchange of the air conditioner is performed on an external unit, the indoor humidity will become lower and lower. The lower the temperature, the poorer the dehumidification effect, so the dehumidification effect of the dehumidifier is much better than the air conditioner which sometimes has no dehumidification effect. The air conditioner is just idling, wasting electricity.
2. The air conditioner is installed fixedly while the dehumidifier can be moved around at any time. Therefore, the air conditioner can only dehumidify the entire room where the air conditioner is installed, but the dehumidifier can dehumidify the entire room or a specific area, and can also be used in different rooms. So in use, the dehumidifier is more flexible and more energy efficient.
3. The main function of the air conditioner is to control the temperature, while the dehumidifier specializes in dehumidifying, so the dehumidifier is more accurate in controlling the humidity. Therefore, it is more suitable for places with higher humidity requirements than the air conditioner.
When choosing the dehumidifier, three points are mainly considered: price, brand and service. In terms of price, for a room of more than 20 square meters, it is relatively more expensive to buy an air conditioner than a dehumidifier, but the price has no great difference. Therefore, when consumers are considering whether to buy dehumidifiers or air conditioners, they need to see what their needs are. If it is mainly used to control the temperature, then the air conditioner is certainly the best choice. If it is mainly used to control the humidity, the dehumidifier is the best choice. Although the two have the same principle, they are two different products. Just like trucks and buses, although the principle is the same, their main applications are quite different.
