Angle Seat Valve vs Solenoid Valve: What are their Differences?
Angle valves and solenoid valves are two commonly used types of valves, especially for their long life and easy-to-operate intelligent control, which are widely used in projects. However, there are certain differences between the two products. Only by distinguishing the various characteristics can a better selection be made.
Definitions differences
Angle seat valve
Angle valve, also known as triangle valve, is named because the pipe is 90 degrees at the angle valve. It is mostly used for hydropower installation in the decoration industry and is an important plumbing accessory. The angle valve has a simple flow path and small flow resistance, and is suitable for occasions with high viscosity, suspended solids and granular fluids.
Pneumatic angle valve is mainly composed of indicator, air control head, returning spring, internal parts of stuffing box, valve body, nuts, sealing disc, valve body, pilot port and air inlet. The angle regulating valve is similar to the straight-through single-seat regulating valve except that the valve body is a right angle. Pneumatic angle valves generally only have a Y-shaped cut-off structure, and solenoid valves have two-way, three-way, and five-way structures.
When the working medium of the pneumatic angle seat valve is steam or gas, the flow sealing performance of the medium can be improved when the flow direction is selected. However, because the V-shaped sealing ring in the valve body is in contact with the working medium for a long time, it will have a certain impact on the service life of the angle valve. The pilot angle valve operated by a single-acting pneumatic actuator with spring safety protection should be normally open or normally closed when used. Angle valves are widely used in short-term frequent starts. The angle valve is similar to the ball valve, its structure and characteristics are modified from the ball valve, and it has the characteristics of sensitive response and accurate action.
Pneumatic angle valves generally require a 3-8 bar air source and a power supply that can supply the solenoid valve that controls the pneumatic angle valve. Pneumatic angle valves can usually withstand a fluid pressure of 1.6Mpa. In comparison, angle valves are more widely used due to their characteristics of high control precision, fast response, good working stability, and various types of applications.
The solenoid valve
Solenoid valve refers to a valve that is opened and closed by electromagnetic drive. Industrial equipment controlled by electromagnetic is an automatic basic component used to control fluid. It belongs to actuator and is not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic. It is used to adjust the direction, flow, speed and other parameters of the medium in the industrial control system. Solenoid valves can withstand high fluid pressure. Solenoid valves can cooperate with different circuits to achieve the expected control, and the control accuracy and flexibility can be guaranteed.
There are many kinds of imported solenoid valves. Different solenoid valves play a role in different positions of the control system. The most commonly used ones are check valves, safety valves, directional control valves, and speed regulating valves.
Principle difference
Angle seat valve
Angle valve is a kind of pneumatic valve, which is driven by compressed air. The caliber of pneumatic angle valve is generally DN15-DN100. The pneumatic angle valve achieves the opening and closing of the valve through the promotion of the air source. Angle valves can save space by maintaining flow.
Pneumatic angle valves are divided into two categories: two-way action and one-way action:
- Two-way acting pneumatic angle valve: when the 1 hole enters the air, the valve closes, and the 2 holes discharge the gas in the lower chamber. When the 2-hole air intake, the valve opens 1-hole to discharge the gas in the upper chamber. When the gas enters the actuator from one port respectively, it acts on the valve stem and drives the piston to open the angle valve. When gas enters the actuator from the other end, the valve stem drives the piston to close the angle valve.
- One-way acting angle valve: The pneumatic angle valve is a pilot angle valve operated by a single-acting pneumatic actuator with spring safety protection. When using, you should choose normally open or normally closed. Single-acting only needs 2 holes for air intake, the gas in the upper cavity is discharged from 1 hole, and the valve is opened. The 2-hole air cut-off upper chamber spring resets, and the gas in the lower chamber is discharged from the 2-hole valve to close.
If the angle valve is distinguished according to the driving mode, it can be divided into two types: electric control valve and pneumatic control valve, so as to adapt to different working conditions and process requirements. Among them, the electric control valve is generally directly driven by the quarter-stroke electric valve actuator, and the opening of the valve is controlled by an analog signal of 4-20mA or 0-10V, so as to achieve the purpose of control.
Solenoid valve
The solenoid valve achieves the switch control of the valve by energizing and de-energizing the coil, and at the same time it requires a voltage that matches the solenoid valve coil.
In the case of normal temperature and pressure, if the gas source and power supply are convenient, both can be replaced, but in the case of only power supply, or high temperature and high pressure, only solenoid valves can be used.
There is a closed cavity in the solenoid valve, and there are through holes in different positions. Each hole is connected to a different oil pipe. There is a piston in the middle of the cavity, and two electromagnets on both sides. By controlling the movement of the valve body, solenoid valve can open or close different oil discharge holes.
The oil inlet hole is normally open, and the hydraulic oil will enter different oil discharge pipes, and then the piston of the oil cylinder will be pushed by the pressure of the oil, and the piston will drive the piston rod, and the piston rod will drive the mechanical device. In this way, the mechanical movement is generated by controlling the electric current on and off of the electromagnet.
Application
The angle valve has a simple flow path, small dead zone and eddy current zone, and can effectively prevent the medium from clogging by means of the scouring effect of the medium itself. That is to say, it has better self-cleaning performance, the flow resistance is small, and the flow coefficient is larger than that of the single-seat valve. Equivalent to the flow coefficient of a double seat valve.
Pneumatic angle valves are widely used in short-term and frequent starts. They have the characteristics of sensitive response and accurate action. When used with solenoid valves, the flow of gas and liquid can be accurately controlled by pneumatic control. It can realize the requirements of accurate temperature control and drop liquid addition. Suitable for places where right-angle piping is required. Under special circumstances, it can be reversed, that is, the flow is side-in and bottom-out.
The solenoid valve is simple to operate and does not require compressed air, but its response speed is slow, its control accuracy and adjustment performance are poor, and it is used in some workplaces that do not require high control accuracy and low operating frequency.
