Tips: Temperature drift and stability of temperature and humidity sensor/transmitter
Almost all temperature and humidity sensors have a temperature drift. Therefore, when choosing a temperature and humidity sensor/transmitter, the range of temperature variation in the application field shall be considered, check whether the selected sensor/transmitter works normally at specified temperature and whether the temperature drift exceeds the design index. The temperature coefficient of capacitive temperature and humidity sensor is a variable that is related with operating temperature and humidity range, because the dielectric coefficient of water and high molecular polymer don't change synchronously with the temperature, and the temperature coefficient mainly depends on the dielectric coefficient of water and humidity sensitive materials. As a result, the temperature coefficient of capacitive humidity sensor is not constant. The minimum temperature coefficient of capacitive temperature and humidity sensor occurs at normal temperature and medium humidity section, the temperature drift of middle and low humidity may be ignored at 5-25℃. However, when it's used in the high temperature and high humidity, the influence of temperature drift shall be considered and necessary compensation shall be made.
The humidity sensors of temperature and humidity transmitters are impossible to seal and are bound to contact with the vapor in the atmosphere, so its stability and service life are limited. This shall be noted and regular calibration is necessary.
