Tips: Key Parameters of the Industrial Camera
1. Resolution
It refers to the pixels of a picture that a camera captures per time. For a digital camera, the resolution directly corresponds to the pixel number of the photoelectric sensor.
2. Pixel Depth
It refers to the bit of per pixel data, and it’s 8 bit generally. As for a digital camera, 10 bit, 12 bit and 14 bit are also available.
3. Frame Rate/Line Rate
It refers to the rate of a camera in collecting and transmitting the image. For an area scan camera, it generally refers to the Frames/Sec. For a line scan camera, it refers to the Lines/Sec.
4. Exposure and Shutter
The line scan camera adopts a line-by-line exposure. An acquisition mode of fixed line frequency and external trigger synchronization can be chosen. The exposure time can be consistent with the line cycle, or can be set for a specific time.
The exposure mode of an area scan camera includes global shutter, field shutter and rolling shutter. Generally, a digital camera provides external trigger picture capture. The shutter speed can be 10ms, and the HV camera could be faster.
5. Pixel Size
Pixel size and resolution jointly determines the size of the camera image surface. The pixel size of a digital camera is 3μm~10μm. Generally, the smaller the pixel size is, the more difficult it produces, and the image quality is more difficult to improve.
6. Interface type
There are Camera Link, IEEE 1394, USB2.0, Ethernet, USB3.0.
