Earth pressure cell is mainly used to monitor the changes in rock and soil pressure in the surrounding strata caused by underground engineering construction such as excavation of foundation pits or tunnels, shield tunneling, pile driving, etc. The measurement range covers 0-0.2 MPa to 0-1.0 MPa.

    Features

    • Earth pressure cell offers excellent resolution and resilience against interference.
    • The pressure cell reacts sensitively to concentrated loads, providing reliable and stable measurements.
    • The earth pressure sensor supports the addition of a temperature detection feature.
    • When paired with a vibrating wire sensor collector, it enables real-time monitoring at the backend.
    • The data collector is equipped with a high-resolution frequency measurement component, compatible with most vibrating wire sensors on the market.
    • The collector supports internal conversion of frequency to corresponding physical quantities, reducing the need for later data processing.
    • Vibrating wire collector can measure temperature and is compatible with thermistors or DS18B20.
    • After connecting to the vibrating wire sensor, it allows users to view sensor frequency lines and thermistor resistance, facilitating fault troubleshooting from the backend without on-site checks in case of data anomalies.
    • The excitation voltage limit can be set, and built-in protection measures prevent sensor damage from excessive excitation voltage.
    • The collector outputs RS485 signals, allowing communication up to 2000m and supporting secondary development.

Tips: What is an earth pressure cell?

An earth pressure cell is a device used to measure the pressure exerted by soil or rock, commonly utilized in civil and geotechnical engineering. It provides real-time data on effective stress in the soil, helping engineers assess the bearing capacity of the ground. Earth pressure cells are essential for monitoring the stability of foundations and surrounding soil during construction and operation, preventing issues such as landslides or settlement. Many units are equipped with data acquisition systems for automated recording and analysis, making them valuable tools in various applications, including underground construction and environmental monitoring.
