Tips: How does a doppler ultrasonic flow meter work?
Doppler flow meters utilize the Doppler effect to calculate flow rate by measuring the change in frequency of ultrasonic waves reflected in a fluid. When the ultrasonic signal encounters particles or bubbles suspended in the fluid, part of the sound wave will be reflected back and frequency shift. The flow meter calculates the flow rate of the fluid by detecting this frequency shift, which results in a volumetric flow rate. This technique is particularly suitable for measuring liquids containing particles or bubbles.
When installing and maintaining a Doppler ultrasonic flowmeter, choose a location that ensures good signal transmission, such as a straight section of piping, and avoid locations near bends, valves, or pumps. Ensure that the fluid has enough particles or bubbles to reflect the ultrasonic signal. For pure liquids, it may be necessary to choose other types of flow meters. With regard to maintenance, the equipment usually does not require frequent calibration, and due to its non-contact measurement design, routine maintenance is less effort, reducing operating costs
