Tips: Differences between Brushless DC Motor and Brush Motor
1. Scope of Application
Brushless DC motor: It's generally used in devices with relatively high control requirements and high speed, such as the model airplane, precision instruments.
Brush motor: Generally, the power equipment adopt a brush motor, such as the air blower, motors in factories and kitchen ventilator. Moreover, series excited machine would also have a high speed. Due to the abrasion of carbon brush, its service life is shorter than the brushless motor.
2. Service Life
Brushless DC motor: Generally, its service life is tens of thousands of hours, but due to the difference of bearings, different motors has different service life.
Carbon brush motor: Generally, its service life is several hundreds hours or about 1000 hours, and the carbon brush shall be replaced timely, otherwise the bearings may be worn out.
3. Effect
Brushless motor: Digital frequency conversion control is generally adopted, so it's well controlled, rotation speed can be adjusted easily.
Carbon brush motor: In general, the carbon brush motor works at a constant speed after starting, speed adjustment is not easy, series excited machine may have a speed at 20000 r/s, but the service life is much shorter.
