Tips

DC regulated power supply can be divided into:

  1. Controllable rectifier type. The output voltage is adjusted by changing the switching time of the thyristor.
  2. Chopper type. The input is the unstable DC voltage, in order to change the on/off ratio of the switching circuit to get the one-way pulsating DC, and then get the stable DC voltage after filtering.
  3. Converter type. The unstable DC voltage is converted into high frequency AC by inverter first, and then transformed, rectified and filtered. The new DC output voltage is sampled and fed back to control the inverter working frequency to achieve the purpose of stable output DC voltage.

Although the output DC voltage after rectification and filtering is smooth, its stability is still poor. After rectifying and filtering, the DC voltage must be stabilized to meet the needs of electronic equipment. There are two common types of DC voltage stabilizing circuits: Parallel type and series type.

This is a good quality supply
I've used some high end power supplies so I have some experience when I say this is a good supply. I connected a Tektronix oscilloscope to evaluate the output voltage. This is a linear supply so the output voltage is very clean. I also checked for spikes when turning the output on and off with and without a load and saw no spikes. The current control and voltage control work well. The ability to connect it to your test circuit, set the voltage and current, and then turn the power output on is a feature not found in some high end power supplies.
