An electric bilge pump is a device used to remove water that accumulates in the bilge of a ship, boat, or any other vessel. This small bilge pump can be used in both fresh and sea water.
Tips: How Does a Bilge Pump Work?
Water enters the bilge area of the boat, either from waves, rain, or other sources. The portable bilge pump is activated either automatically or manually. The electirc bilge pump draws in water through an inlet valve located near the bottom of the pump. The water is then pushed out of the pump through a discharge port, usually located above the waterline of the boat. Depending on the design of the pump, it may use impellers, diaphragms, or other mechanisms to create suction and move water out of the bilge. The pump may also include a float switch, which activates the pump when the water level in the bilge reaches a certain height.
