Tips: Why do I need a DC reactor?
Whether a DC reactor is required on the output side of the inverter input and output protection circuit should be determined according to the working environment of the inverter. When the following situations occur, consider using a DC reactor.
1. With switched reactive compensation capacitors or with thyristor phase-controlled load
For the case where there is a switch-type reactive power compensation capacitor screen or a thyristor phase-controlled load on the same power node providing the inverter's working power, a DC reactor should be used. This is mainly due to the instantaneous change in reactive power caused by the switching of the capacitor screen, which will cause a sudden change in the grid voltage; and the harmonics and grid waveform gaps caused by the phase-controlled load may cause harm to the input rectifier circuit of the inverter.
2. Unbalanced three-phase power supply
When the imbalance of the three-phase power supply to the inverter exceeds 3%, a DC reactor should be selected.
3. With power factor requirement
If there is a certain requirement for the power factor of the input terminal of the inverter, if it needs to be increased above 0.93, a DC reactor should be selected.
4. Large capacity transformer
If the inverter is connected to a large-capacity transformer, and the current flowing in the input power circuit of the inverter may cause damage to the inverter's rectifier circuit, a DC reactor should be used.
