Tips: How to run 3-phase 380V motor on 220V power supply?

When the variable frequency drive turns the three-phase motor on the occasion with only 220V household power supply, it has the features of slow starting and small starting impact on the household circuit. Generally, there are two main types of VFDs that drive a three-phase motor with 220 volt household voltage.

The first type is a three-phase 220V input and 220V output VFD. When this type of VFD drives a three-phase 380V motor, it generally uses a 380V star connection for a relatively low-power motor. When using a three-phase 220V output VFD , change the connection of the motor to a delta connection. The motor can be driven normally.

The second type is the VFD whose input is 220V and output is three-phase 380V, which is suitable for slightly larger three-phase motors. The motor itself is a 380V delta connection, so the connection can no longer be modified. Therefore, the motor can no longer use the modified connection to reduce the voltage, and can only use the VFD with a three-phase 380V output. When using this kind of variable frequency drive, the problem of on-site power supply capacity is mainly considered, because the motor power is larger, the input current should also be larger. The connection method is very simple, and the motor does not require special connection changes.

Can you recommend the VFD I need based on my needs?
I have a 2 hp, 3ph motor I would like to have speed control on. I am single phase 220 input. My motor draws 10 amps at 60 hz. What vfd do you recommend?
