Tips: Variable frequency drive selection precautions

  1. The purpose of using VFD: Constant voltage control, constant current control or others.
  2. The load type of the VFD: Such as vane pump, displacement pump or others, pay special attention to the load performance curve, the performance curve determines the applications method.
  3. The VFD and the load matching problem:
    1) Voltage matching: The rated voltage of VFD should be accordance with the rated voltage of the load.
    2) Current matching: For ordinary centrifugal pump, VFD rated current and motor rated current should be accordant. For special loads such as deep water pumps, should refer to the motor performance parameters, use the maximum current to determine the VFD current and overload capacity.
    3) Torque matching: This situation may occur when a constant torque load or a deceleration device is present.
  4. When using VFD to drive high-speed motor, due to high-speed motor reactance is small, higher harmonics increase may cause output current value increases. So for high-speed motor, the capacity of VFD should be slightly higher than for ordinary motor.
  5. If the VFD will use long cable, should take measures to suppress effect from the long cable to the ground coupling capacitor, in order to avoid insufficient output of the VFD. So in this case, should choose a VFD with higher capacity or install a reactor on the output terminal.
  6. For some special applications, such as high temperature or high altitude, these situations will cause the VFD derating capacity, and should choose a higher capacity VFD.

VFD recommendation
we need a vfd having a specs plate that is 11kw , 415 v, 20.9A, 50hz, 1460 rpm, ip54, please recommend what vfd capacity we need to purchase, we are going to use it with our TADU FS-LR facing lathe machine, we are thinking of buying this 20 hp (15kW) VFD, 3 Phase 220V, 380V, 460V (SKU: GK3000-4T0150G). please reply as soon as possible.

The 20hp specification you selected is OK, because the rated current 32A is greater than your 20.9A specification. When placing an order, please select the voltage 415V that matches you.
E.09 error
I ordered the inverter and motor runs very slow only and alarms E.09. The manual does not list this error.

1. Please provide us with the VFD nameplate and motor nameplate you received.
2. E.09 is caused by VFD overload.
Suggestions:
1) Set P0.12, P0.13 to increase the acceleration time.
2) Check if the VFD input voltage is too low.
3) Check if the load is too large.
4) Try running the VFD without connecting the motor to see if there is an error.

After re-checking, for the synchronous motor under V/F control mode with No encoder, you can try to perform P8.37=11 (Static self-learning for synchronous motor) When done, some parameters between P8.16~P8.20 will be changed automatically. We will continue to improve the content of the manual. Thank you for your understanding.
