SMPS Main characteristics:
- Small size and weight: the size and weight of switching power supply proves to be 20-30% of linear power, because it has no industrial frequency transformer.
- Low energy consumption and high efficiency: power transistor operates in switch state, so it presents lower energy consumption and higher conversion efficiency with a conversion rate of 60-70%. As a contrast, linear power supply only presents a conversion rate of 30-40%.
